Building permit for the Ottobahn

An algorithm calculates the fastest connection for all gondolas along the route in real time. Passengers can get on and off at any time.

“Especially in the greater Munich area, we need creative ideas like this to smooth out traffic,” says Bavaria’s Minister of Transport, Kerstin Schreyer. “I am pleased that the Ottobahn is becoming a reality step by step.”

“The granting of the building permit is another important milestone for the realization of the ottobahn. Now it is getting concrete and we are very happy about the decision of the district office and the support of the Bavarian Ministry of Transport”, says Marc Schindler, Managing Director of Ottobahn.

Clear Roadmap

According to the company, there is a clear road map for Ottobahn: the groundbreaking ceremony in Taufkirchen is scheduled for mid-March. The track will be 900 meters long. One vehicle will initially start operating on the oval in the second half of the year. Later there should be five, which should unwind 100,000 kilometers. These tests are an essential prerequisite for an operating license, which is already accompanied by TÜV Süd. (wa)
