Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO), president of the republic, presented this Saturday the Infrastructure works program for the strengthening of Cancun and Tulum. Thus, given the criticism he has received for the projects implemented, the president pointed out that “they are not about expropriation”.
During his conference, AMLO mentioned that with this program he sought to boost tourism and promote the economic growth of Quintana Roo. In this sense, he delved into the construction of the Mayan Train, the modernization of Boulevard Luis Donaldo Colosio or the construction of the Jaguar National Park.
“I want to make it very clear that it is in no way about expropriations because, if not, our adversaries are going to say that we are already like Porfirio Díaz, expropriating, invading ejidos or small properties,” said the president, referring to the Jaguar Park in Tulum.
According to López Obrador, this project will cover more than 200 thousand hectares for the reserve and pointed out that a park will have a thousand hectares and it will be fenced to protect the archaeological zone that currently includes the Navy airport and the land donated by the Quintana Roo government.

“It is a reserve agreement and what becomes the nucleus of protection for the benefit of all, of care for the environment, that It has to be a product of agreement, compensation and purchase inclusive, not rule out that possibility, because we have to take care of the environment and take care of the jungle,” explained Obrador.
He also pointed out that there are already 20 hectares of land to build a new airport that will be inaugurated on December 23.
It should be remembered that, recently, regarding the process of expropriation of 198 plots, which comprise a geographical extension of 2 million 410 thousand 107.72 square meters, Roman Meyer Falcon, head of the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu) reiterated that a check with all owners and thereby avoid administrative problems.

He even commented that communication has already been established with everyone and agreements were reached; Nevertheless, fewer than 50 have liens on their property so it will be easier to go to the figure of the concerted expropriation.
And it is that Sedatu issued an administrative act for the expropriation of land private in Solidarity, Benito Juarez, Tulum and Puerto Morelos, municipalities through which the Mayan Train will pass.
“It is an administrative process, it is not a final definition process that will be affected and in the next few days topographical surveys will be carried out in order to affect, as far as possible, the urbanized areas of the line. that is being carried out, seeking to have the least possible impact on urban areas,” he said.
As for the price they will pay federal authorities per square meter, Meyer indicated that this issue will be agreed with the Institute of Administration and Appraisals of National Assets, and that the payment to the owners of the lands involved will be made “in the coming months.”
With an extension of 1,525 kilometers and a investment of 230 billion pesos, the Mayan Train will travel through the states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo.
