This Saturday afternoon, the President of the Republic, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO), announced the Infrastructure works program for the strengthening of Cancun and Tulum, with which it is intended to modernize 11 kilometers of Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard, the construction of the Jaguar National Park, among others.
During a press conference at the Technological University of Cancun, Quintana Roo, the federal president explained that the package of works in which the budget will be invested will be: the modernization of the Cancun Airport junction and of Boulevard “Luis Donaldo Colosio””; the construction of the vehicular bridge over the Nichupté Lagoon and the construction of the avenida “Chac-Mool”.
However, the largest project in the entity will be the construction of the Jaguar National Park in the municipality of Tulum, a work that seeks to protect the flora and fauna with an emphasis on endemic species such as the jaguar, and with an area of more than a thousand hectares.
In the company of federal and state officials and the governor of the entity, Carlos Joaquin Gonzalez, President López Obrador recalled that in its beginnings Quintana Roo was considered “Mexican Siberia”, but thanks to migration has become one of the most important economic poles.
Given this, he indicated that tourism should be taken care of to return “how much Quintana Roo has given to the country”, which is why the construction of the Mayan Train was considered, “so that we can get more benefits for Mexicans. In December 2023, the 2,500 kilometers of the Mayan Train will be inaugurated”, he assured.
“We are already giving back a little of how much Quintana Roo has given Mexico with these investments, a modern train of almost 600 kilometers (…) It is approximately 70 billion pesos, not credit but a public budget, it is going to deliver the train for its operation without debt”
