The Italian subsidiary Sens Italia has been commissioned to implement the solar park. For Sens, the project is a further step in the large-scale solar offensive in southern and eastern Europe. In the next few years, another construction phase near the site in Montecchio Emilia as well as further PV systems in the surrounding communities and regions with a total output of around 60 MWp are to follow.
Once these have been implemented, the systems in the region would generate a total of around 100 million kWh of regenerative electricity per year, according to Würzburg, the headquarters of Steag Sens. “With this project pipeline, we are moving towards the expansion of the first gigawatt Italy is getting closer,” explains Sarah Herresthal, Managing Director of SENS Italia. “I am incredibly proud of the entire team that ensures, day after day, that the expansion of renewables in Italy continues. In this way, we can also achieve our goal of building up another three GWp of capacity throughout Italy by 2025,” says the SENS Country Manager, looking forward to the upcoming projects. (lm)
