Peru is one of the few countries that It has three regions coast, mountains and Selva. Each region has magical places to visit and do sightseeing and one of them is Ancash, department that enjoys a wide extension of the Cordillera Blanca.

CORDILLERA BLANCA AND ITS SNOW CAPS

The Huascarán National Park has in its interior the majestic Cordillera Blanca that extends into the territory of Áncash. For that reason, you will find several snow-capped mountains and several lagoons creating an incredible ecosystem. The snowy ones that you can find are the following:

– Huascarán, the highest summit in Peru and the second in Latin America.

– Alpamayo, qualified as the most beautiful snow-capped in the world, whose height is 6120 meters.

– Huandoy Norte at 6,395 meters, Chopicalqui at 6,354, Hualcán at 6,125 meters, Santa Cruz Sur at 6,259, Huantsán at 6,410 meters, Copa Norte at 6,173 meters and Artensauraju at 6,025 meters.

PASTORURI AND THE PUYAS RAIMONDI

Pastoruri, the snowy one that is 5000 meters above sea level and here you can see the snow up close. Pastoruri is an important stop due to its beauty and the awareness it generates by knowing its history and images from previous years.

There is a community of puyas, a high Andean plant, very difficult to see.

PARÓN LAGOON

Laguna de Parón is one of the largest lagoons in the Cordillera Blanca. It is at 4185 meters above sea level and its beautiful turquoise color and the landscape of the snow-capped mountains that surround it will captivate you. This lagoon has the most important and largest freshwater deposit in the Cordillera Blanca. It has been (and is) named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985, due to its high ecological value.

To get to this beautiful turquoise lagoon, you must walk for almost a day. On the way you will appreciate waterfalls and snow-capped peaks such as Huascarán and Chopicalqui

LAGOONS OF LLANGANUCO OR CHINANCOCHA

Some people call it Laguna de Chinancocha, claiming that this is its real name. However, when you go to Huaraz you will know that the inhabitants locate it by the following names: Llanganuco, Chinancocha and Oroncocha. It happens that Chinancocha means “female lagoon” and Oroncocha “male lagoon”, both are very close and are popularly known as the Llanganuco Lakes.
