UAE intercepts two missiles aimed at Abu Dhabi

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The United Arab Emirates intercepted two ballistic missiles targeting Abu Dhabi early Monday, the state news agency reported.

The WAM news agency posted on Twitter that the missile fragments fell harmlessly over the capital Abu Dhabi.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

However, the attack came a week after Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for an attack in the Emirati capital that left three dead and six wounded.

In recent days, a coalition led by Saudi Arabia and backed by the United Arab Emirates unleashed devastating airstrikes in Yemen, leaving the poorest country in the Arab world without internet service and killing more than 80 people in a detention center.
