Abuse report: Pope Benedict XVI. corrected statement

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. has corrected his statement on the abuse report of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising. Contrary to what was initially claimed, he took part in a meeting in 1980 as archbishop of Munich and Freising at which a priest was discussed who had repeatedly been conspicuous for the sexual abuse of children. This was announced by Benedikt’s private secretary, Georg Gänswein, in a press release. That priest was later reinstated as a pastor in Bavaria.
