More than 120 dead in Syria in 4 days of fighting between Kurdish forces and jihadists

More than 120 people, the vast majority combatants, have been killed in four days of fighting in Syria between the Islamic State (IS) jihadist group and Kurdish forces, an NGO reported on Sunday.

The clashes were sparked by an IS attack Thursday night on the Ghwayran prison in northeastern Syria, where the jihadists are imprisoned, guarded by Kurdish forces. “77 jihadists and 39 Kurdish fighters were killed,” as well as “seven civilians,” said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH).
