The Health Secretary (SSa) updated this Friday the first Epidemiological Traffic Light coronavirus (COVID-19) of 2022, which will be in force from January 24 to February 6.

Through the official page, the Government of Mexico indicated that the country will be colored as follows:

After more than four months, for the federal government there will be a “red” color status (maximum risk of contagion): this is Aguascalientes. The last ones had been Colima, Guerrero, Puebla, Hidalgo, Tabasco, Tamaulipas and Nuevo León, at the end of August 2021.

However, on January 9, the state government of Tamaulipas reversed the Ssa declaring himself in red.

while in color Orange or “high risk” will be nine entities, six more than two weeks ago: Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Durango, Zacatecas and Quintana Roo. That is to say, almost the entire northern border of the country.

The former is an effect of the “fourth wave” of contagions that brought with it the variant Omicron at the beginning of the year.

In turn, in yellow (moderate risk) there will be 10 states, the same number as in the last report: Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Jalisco, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Morelos and Yucatan.

Conversely, 12 entities were managed to keep in color “verde” (low risk), seven fewer than two weeks ago: Nayarit, Colima, Michoacán, Hidalgo, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Tabasco and Campeche.

The four elements evaluated to determine the color of the traffic light in each entity are: the percentage of occupancy of beds in intensive care, percentage of positive cases of coronavirus; trend of occupied beds and trend of positive cases; that is, the expected behavior based on current numbers, and which is calculated by the National Council for Science and Technology (Conacyt).

The Health Secretary reported that this Friday, January 7, there were 49 thousand 906 new infections and 331 deaths because of the disease.

According to the daily technical statement, as of today there are estimates in the country 333 thousand 46 active cases of the illness; that is, the patients who began to present symptoms in the last 14 days (from December 25, 2021 to January 7, 2022).

The entities with the highest number of active cases of SARS-CoV-2 in descending order are: Baja California Sur, Mexico City, Tabasco, Colima, Nayarit, San Luis Potosí and Zacatecas.

Refering to hospital availability, the average occupation of general beds in health centers is 39% and of 23% for beds of intensive care.

Regarding the day of National Vaccination Strategy against SARS-CoV-2, the agency announced that so far 76 million 345 thousand 784 have received the full schedule of Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Janssen, Moderna, Sinovac, and CanSino formulations. The above means that the 93% of the population aged 18 and over have received both doses.

Just It is Thursday, January 20, 780 thousand 913 injections were applied.

The Mexico City It is the only entity that already has practically 100% of its population over 18 years of age with the complete vaccination schedule. The other entities that are very close are Quintana Roo, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí. While, Chiapas it is the state with the greatest backwardness, followed by Oaxaca and Guerrero.
