Coronavirus in Mexico as of January 21: 49 thousand 906 infections and 331 deaths were registered in the last day

This Friday, January 21, the Health Secretary (In) announced that, until the cutoff at 5:00 p.m. (central Mexico time), in the country they have confirmed 4 million 595 thousand 589 total accumulated cases since the health emergency began. As for the number of deaths, to date a total of 302 thousand 721 deaths.

With these numbers, in the last 24 hours there were 49 thousand 906 new infections Y 331 deaths by COVID-19.

According to the daily technical communication, to date there are estimates in the country of a total of 8 million 332 thousand 652 negative cases, 625 thousand 218 suspects Y 353 thousand 885 estimated active cases of the disease, that is, the patients who began to present symptoms in the last 14 days (from January 08 to 21, 2022).

This last aspect allows the health authorities to identify the areas with higher viral activity and risk of contagion of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, being the states with the most confirmed active cases: Baja California Sur, Mexico City, Tabasco, Colima, Nayarit, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Coahuila, Querétaro and Yucatán.

Likewise, since the beginning of the pandemic, the federal authorities have registered the total number of infections accumulated by residence; In this sense, the states with the highest number of reported cases are: Mexico City with one million 145 thousand 001 cases; Mexico state (438 thousand 665), New Lion (243 thousand 375), Guanajuato (232 thousand 003); Jalisco (189 thousand 635) and Tabasco, with 167 thousand 273.

They are followed by Sonora (139,038); Puebla (137 thousand 697); San Luis Potosí (137 thousand 560); Veracruz (135 thousand 232) and Coahuila (124 thousand 584). These entities represent 65 percent, more than two thirds, of the total cases accumulated in the Mexican Republic.

Meanwhile, the States with the highest number of deaths are: Mexico City (53 thousand 125); State of Mexico (33 thousand 259); Jalisco (17 thousand 809); Puebla (15 thousand 826); Veracruz (14 thousand 921) and Nuevo León (14 thousand 016).

Refering to hospital occupation, until January 20, the states with the highest percentage in general bed occupancy are: Aguascalientes (80%), Durango (73%) and Coahuila (69%). In turn, entities with largest number of occupied fan beds are in Aguascalientes (62 percent), Zacatecas (38 percent), and Chihuahua (36 percent).
