In preparation for the enforcement of the Act on Punishment of Serious Accidents (Severe Accident Punishment Act), the Korea Occupational Health Association announced on the 20th that it had established a health and safety team dedicated to safety and health.
The association held a meeting of the heads of affiliated organizations at the Hanmaeum Blood Center in Gunpo, Gyeonggi-do on the afternoon of the same day and announced the ‘safety and health management policy’. The contents of the business are to put safety and health first, starting with the business sites belonging to the association. In addition, it was decided to establish the association’s safety and health management system by establishing the ‘Health and Safety Team’, an organization in charge of safety and health directly under the president.
On this day, the association held a resolution meeting with the intention that the association would play a leading role before the enforcement of the Act on the Punishment of Serious Disasters. The association was established in 1963 as a non-profit organization with 1,650 occupational health professionals including doctors, nurses, industrial hygienists and ergonomic engineers. Currently, it has 19 regional headquarters and centers to carry out work environment measurement, special and general health checkups, and consignment work for health management.
