A Chinese couple trapped on a date by their city’s coronavirus lockdown have become engaged after several weeks of being locked down together.
It is the second time in a month that Chinese state media has told a story of a couple trapped on a date due to a lockdown imposed by a covid outbreak in the northern city of Xi’an.
In this case, the story had a happy ending, although Zhao Xiaoqing, a 28-year-old woman from Shaanxi province in northern China, went to her appointment in Xi’an without high expectations.
“I never thought of spending the night, because it’s quite rare,” Xiaoqing told local outlet Jimu News on Monday. However, the city authorities decreed a harsh confinement that night that prevented him from returning home.
Although she was “not too interested” when she first saw the photo of her date, named Zhao Fei, the woman claimed that he was more handsome in reality.
And, despite the strange start, love blossomed and the two ended up engaged in marriage. “Our souls are compatible, we get along very well and both parents are happy,” the woman said.
Before this romance, a story of a woman who had been trapped in her blind date’s apartment, also in Xi’an, went viral on Chinese social media.
In that case, love did not blossom and the woman, named Wang, claimed her date was as talkative as “a wooden mannequin.”
