London, Jan 18 (EFE) .- The United Kingdom reported 438 new deaths from coronavirus on Tuesday, the highest daily number of deaths reported since February last year, and 94,432 cases detected in 24 hours. In the last seven days, 1,904 deaths from coronavirus have been reported in the country as a whole, an increase of 14.7% compared to the previous seven days, while infections and hospitalizations have decreased in that period. Cases have fallen by 38.9% in seven days in the United Kingdom and hospital admissions for coronavirus by 2.9%, according to the latest official figures. Nearly 20,000 patients are hospitalized in the UK, a similar number to that recorded in mid-February last year. Given the gradual decline in the number of infections, the Scottish Home Rule Government announced today that it will lift many of the restrictions against the pandemic next week. The British Minister of Health, Sajid Javid, was for his part in Parliament “cautiously optimistic” about the evolution of the epidemic in England and advanced that he hopes to “substantially reduce” social limitations in the coming days. Javid informed the deputies that the peak of daily infections and hospitalizations has already been exceeded.
