The City Government confirmed that classes will begin on February 21

Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires

The Government of the City of Buenos Aires ratified this morning that the return of classes will take place on next february 21 within the framework of a pandemic scenario in which a rise in infections is registered at the local level. This was announced by the head of the Buenos Aires Government Horacio Rodriguez Larreta with the Minister of Education Soledad Acuna.

“On February 21 classes will start with the boys in the classrooms”, the official pointed out. The statements were made within the framework of an act in which Larreta also announced the opening of two new vaccination centers against COVID-19: will be located in the Teatro Colón and Costa Salguero.

Our intention is to have a protocol that allows us to be safe, be calm and that families trust that it is the best place for their children. But also that it allows us to take care of ourselves and that it does not do as at the end of last year, the bubbles were punctured and interrupted all the time and that in the end the class process was worse, “said Acuña.

Then, the Minister of Education added: “We are going to do as we did all last year, weekly, analyzing each one of the variables and the data that we have specifically to define the best protocol that guarantees that all the boys spend as much time as possible in the classroom without suspensions”.

“Closer to the dates we are going to communicate to the families to have the safest and most appropriate protocol for that moment,” Acuña completed.

The opening of two new vaccination centers aims to continue working on the immunization plan in the framework of the health emergency caused by COVID-19, according to Larreta. And in relation to the scenario of the city in the framework of the pandemic, he analyzed: “Today the data shows that the level of daily infections is still very high. Last week the average was 12,300 and today the daily average is 14,000 infections per day “.

“This gives an ‘R’ that fell in the last week from 1.25 to 1.1. In other words, we have to consolidate this decline,” Larreta said in relation to the index that marks the reproduction rate of the SARS-COV-2 virus.

Between next Thursday and Friday, the current testing centers of Costa Salguero and the Teatro Colón will be converted into vaccination centers. In addition, more positions will be added in other devices in operation, among which those of Parque Roca, San Lorenzo and the Islamic Center stand out.

In this way, CABA will increase capacity by 25% and will be able to apply 40,000 vaccines per day in more than 400 posts of 28 points, specified the official statement issued by the Buenos Aires government.

More than a year after the start of the Vaccination Plan, more than 6.4 million vaccines were applied and in the last 7 days an average of more than 25 thousand doses were given. Currently more than 92% of porteños have at least one dose; 87% have the second dose; and 31% already have the booster dose.
