After the official and influencer Mariana Rodríguez Cantú and Samuel García Sepúlveda, governor of the state of Nuevo León, announced on social networks that they obtained a permit to live with a five-month-old baby from the “Capullos” Social Assistance Center; The National System for the Integral Development of the Family (SNDIF) reported that the case is being reviewed, by which the appropriate measures will be determined.

Through a statement, the government institution indicated that, since last January 15, the Federal Attorney for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (PFPNNA) requested, from its headquarters in Nuevo León, information on “the alleged adoption process for a weekend” or some justification for the child to remain in the care of the couple. In this regard, the Attorney General’s Office established a limit of 72 hours to deliver the corresponding documents.

Likewise, the National DIF indicated that by having shared a video with the face of the five-month-old child on social networks, having revealed his name and the health problems he faces, Mariana Rodríguez and Samuel García incurred “a clear violation of rights.” privacy and protection of personal data, which are recognized in the General Law on the Rights of Children and Adolescents.

“Because of the foregoing, the Office for the Protection of Children and Adolescents of Nuevo León was required to, within the scope of its competence, undertake the necessary administrative and jurisdictional actions to protect the violated rights of the child”

The actions of the official and the governor of the border state have been highly criticized by organizations such as the National Human Rights Commission of Nuevo León, the Network for the Rights of Children in Mexico (Redim) and by Save the Children, a non-governmental organization organization dedicated to promoting the rights of children that indicated that Mariana Rodríguez and Samuel García could have committed the crime of human trafficking.

In this regard, the National DIF reiterated its commitment to apply the necessary measures to eradicate irregular and illicit practices that violate the rights of children and stressed that the adoption process must be carried out in strict adherence to legal provisions and ensuring the integrity of the girls. , children, or adolescents involved
