City of Leipzig relies on Process Mining

challenges

The challenge in the analysis was, on the one hand, that the purchasing processes in the city of Leipzig are used by different requesters such as administration and schools. On the other hand, some of the processes are not digitized and are based on other IT solutions in addition to SAP.

The process analysis using the IT-supported method of Process Mining showed that the manual processing of some process steps leads to process backlogs, increased throughput times and ultimately also to a potential overload of the employees. By visualizing the specific figures, the project was able to identify optimization potential for the future solution.

Next Steps

In the future, the city of Leipzig will also use SAP ERP and subsequently SAP S/4HANA in connection with SAP Fiori to map the procurement process – a basis for this has also been created with the pilot project. (sg)
