RWE boss Krebber warns to hurry with new gas power plants

RWE CEO Markus Krebber has called on the federal government to create the conditions for the construction of new gas-fired power plants very quickly. “We have to talk about security of supply and need a massive expansion of gas-fired power plants,” said Krebber on Monday at the “Handelsblatt” energy summit in Berlin. The industry needs lead times of six to eight years to connect new gas power blocks to the grid. Investment conditions and locations must therefore be clarified quickly by politicians if the coal phase-out is to be implemented by 2030.
