Pistons rely on subs to beat Raptors

DETROIT (AP) — Trey Lyles scored 21 points, Cade Cunningham and Hamidou Diallo each had 18 apiece, and the Detroit Pistons extended their surprise streak, beating the Toronto Raptors 103-87 on Friday night.

The Pistons are 5-3 so far in 2022 after finishing 2021 with 18 stumbles in their last 19 games.

Josh Jackson scored 13 points off the bench for the Pistons, who limited Toronto to 32.2% shooting. On a night when three starters fouled early, Lyles and Jackson came off the bench and played a starring role.

Fred VanVleet had 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Raptors, who have lost two straight after winning six in a row.

Detroit built a 56-43 lead in the first half. He had a 22-7 lead in points off the bench in the first two quarters, including 15 points from Lyles.
