Pumas beat Toluca 5-0 in their debut in the Clausura-2022 of Mexican soccer

With four goals from their Brazilian forwards, the National University Pumas beat the ‘Red Devils’ of Toluca 5-0 on Monday in a match on the first day of the Clausura-2022 Mexican soccer tournament played at the Olympic University Stadium.

This game should have been played on Sunday, but was postponed one day due to a covid-19 outbreak on the Toluca campus the week before.

At minute 31, Alan Mozo sent a pass to the front for the Brazilian Rogerio de Oliveira who controlled the ball and defined the 1-0 for the felines with a high touch before the goalkeeper’s exit.

The also Brazilian Diogo de Oliveira scored the 2-0 with a shot inside the small area at 61.

Just three minutes later, Rogerio de Oliveira made it 3-0 with a scissor shot almost from the edge of the area.

At 69, the debutant Jorge Ruvalcaba received a frontal pass, entered the area from the left side and got 4-0 with a touch to the far post.

Higor Meritao, also Brazilian, sentenced the final 5-0 with a left-footed shot on the edge of the small area.

Also due to an outbreak of covid-19, the Santos game against Tigres was rescheduled from Saturday to next Wednesday at the Corona stadium.

The Atlas, current champions, will make their debut on Wednesday, January 19 against León at the Nou Camp stadium.
