China finds 110 local covid infections among 192 new cases

Beijing, Jan 10 (EFE) .- The National Health Commission of China announced today the detection of 192 new positives of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus this Monday, 110 of them due to local contagion.
These community-transmitted cases were recorded in Henan (center, 87), Shaanxi (north, 13) and Tianjin (north, 10) provinces.
The remaining 82 infections, found among travelers from abroad, were detected in various regions of the country, but most of them (27) correspond to the eastern megalopolis of Shanghai, one of the main gateways to China, which maintains its borders practically closed since March 2020.
The health authorities also reported today the detection of 50 asymptomatic cases, all from abroad, although Beijing does not count them as confirmed cases unless they manifest symptoms.
The total of this type of infections under observation is 721, of which 681 come from other territories.
The National Health Commission also detailed that, until last local midnight (16:00 GMT on Monday), 138 patients were discharged after successfully overcoming the covid.
The total number of active infected in mainland China amounts to 3,458, 21 of which are serious.
According to the accounts of the institution, since the beginning of the pandemic, 103,968 people have been infected in the country, among whom 95,874 have managed to heal and 4,636 died.
To date, more than 1.4 million close contacts with infected people have been followed up, of which about 45,000 remain under observation.
