MADRID, 10 (EUROPA PRESS)
The Chief Executive, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Monday that he will once again summon the regional leaders in another Telematic Conference of Presidents throughout the month of January to address again the situation of the sixth wave of the coronavirus.
This is what the President of the Government has advanced in an interview on Cadena Ser, collected by Europa Press, where he has specified that this telematic Conference will be held first and, later, in February, a face-to-face meeting will be held on the island of La Palma, as planned.
Sánchez and the regional presidents met on December 22, two days before Christmas Eve, to discuss the explosive increase in coronavirus infections caused by the variant of the ‘omicron’ coronavirus.
At that time, in addition to re-establishing the mandatory use of the mask outdoors, Sánchez also conveyed to the regional presidents the will that the Conference of Presidents meet every 10 days to assess the evolution of the pandemic.
Finally, the Chief Executive has advanced that this matter will be addressed again in another Telematic Conference of Presidents throughout the month of January, although he has defended that the autonomous communities and the Government already met last week to address the return to schools after Christmas.
In any case, once this meeting of presidents is held, Sánchez has reaffirmed his willingness to re-summon the regional leaders on the island of La Palma in February. At first it was planned to hold this Conference at the end of last year – in fact, the Preparatory Committee met at the beginning of December – but the increase in Covid infections has caused it to be delayed until the beginning of February, as as the chief executive himself advanced.
