Coronavirus in Argentina: 5,648 infections were confirmed, the highest number in more than 100 days

The Ministry of Health of the Nation reported this Friday, December 17, that, in the last 24 hours, there were 18 deaths and 5,648 new infections of coronavirus, the highest number since August 31, when they were reported 6,731 people who contracted the virus.

On the other hand, From yesterday to today, 64,365 tests were carried out, with a positivity rate of 8.77%. Of the total deaths reported today, 7 are men (2 residents of the province of Buenos Aires, 1 from Entre Ríos, 1 from Río Negro, 1 from Salta and 2 from Santa Fe) and 11 are women (4 from the province of Buenos Aires, 2 from the City of Buenos Aires, 1 from Chaco, 1 from Jujuy, 1 from Mendoza, 1 from Salta and 1 from Santa Fe).

Meanwhile, the national government works to deepen the vaccination campaign. The latest update of the Public Vaccination Monitor specifies that as of today morning 90,695,294 doses were distributed throughout the country, of which 72,812,317 were applied.

Of this total, 37,533,923 people were inoculated at least once and 31,616,437 have the complete immunization scheme. At the same time, 2,113,192 people received an additional dose and another 1,548,765, a booster dose.
