On December 2, Chihuahua registered its first of the deaths of the winter season because of poisoning by carbon monoxide.
This was determined by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) after conducting forensic studies to find the cause of death, in such a way as to rule out a possible homicide. For their part, relatives of the two victims detailed that they were people of the third Age with 67 and 68 years of age respectively
The discovery was made at an address in the Cumbres de San Francisco subdivision, in the state capital.
The director of Municipal Civil Protection (PC), Roberto Briones Mota, reported for The Herald of Chihuahua that this season have also been registered eight people with symptoms of intoxication, without meriting hospital transfer.
Given the low temperatures of the entity, State pc invited the public to take extreme precautions in the installation and use of heaters to avoid accidents.
Meanwhile, he exhorted do not use stoves and cooktops to heat the home, as they are the major cause of poisoning deaths in the cold season. Other of the recommendations that the State Government issued to use in the winter are:
– Procure a review of the heaters by a person certified technician in the matter
– Do not place the gas tank inside from the home, nor embedded in the heater
– Maintain adequate ventilation in the room where the heater was placed: it is recommended to open a window with a 10 centimeters
– Do not sleep with the heater on
Similarly, the agency listed the most common symptoms of poisoning: headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea and vomiting, blurred vision, hearing loss, disorientation and respiratory failure.
In case of presenting them – or detecting that someone presents them – you should call the 911 to request medical attention. Meanwhile, it is recommended to move away from the area, move to a place with fresh air and immediately turn off the carbon monoxide source.
The National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported that for this Sunday, December 5th, states of the Mesa del Norte and Mesa Central will continue with environments very icy. The lowest values are expected in mountainous areas of Chihuahua, Durango, State of Mexico, Tlaxcala and Puebla, with records that could be below the freezing point, from -5ºC to 0ºC
Similarly, the minimums will be very cold in the mountains of Baja California, Sonora, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Mexico City, Morelos, Oaxaca and Veracruz. There, the thermometers will move between the 0 y 5ºC, mainly to dawn and during evening.
On the other hand, a low pressure channel will cause rains in the southeast, while an anticyclonic circulation will maintain clear skies in much of the country. There will be no cold fronts or winter storms crossing the national territory.
It should be noted that one of the most important recommendations to face the cold conditions of the country is to apply the Influenza vaccine, in such a way that complications in diseases of the season are avoided.
