BASF and EnviaM want to jointly build a 24-hectare solar plant in the immediate vicinity of the BASF site in Schwarzheide. The around 52,000 solar modules are intended to make chemical production on site more climate-friendly.
“The chemical industry is one of the most energy-intensive branches of industry in Germany. It plays a key role in achieving climate neutrality. We are delighted to be making an important contribution to the energy transition with BASF at the Schwarzheide site. The joint solar park represents the structural change in the region. As an energy location, Lausitz has long since ceased to be just the land of lignite, but also the land of renewable energies, ”emphasized Stephan Lowis, CEO of EnviaM.
Commissioning planned for spring 2022
