Argentine Ariel Holan, León’s coach, said that if his team aspires to beat the Tigres and advance to the final of the Mexican Apertura must dominate ball possession in the second leg of the semi-finals.

“It will be a different match the second leg, but we have to try to defend ourselves, attack and have more possession of the ball to not make a fiscal wear like the one we had today “He explained after León’s 2-1 defeat against the Tigres in the first leg of the Apertura semifinals.

Holan’s team went ahead on the scoreboard with a goal from Chilean Jean Meneses, but the French Florian Thauvin and the Paraguayan Carlos González signed the comeback for the Tigres UANL in the last minutes of the match.

“In the last plays it was difficult for us to maintain our aggressiveness and defend, that is the consequence of a great wear and tear with more than 100 minutes. When you don’t have the ball, you have to make a big effort to support the defensive system and that turned us around on the scoreboard, ”lamented the 61-year-old strategist.

Holan asked his players to return to the game system that is based on owning the ball with which the Lion ended up in the third place of the classification in the regular phase.

“We must turn the page as quickly as possible because in 72 hours we have our revenge. It depends on us and if we win we go to the final. We must focus our energy on seeing how the team is doing, how the players finished today and improving possession of the ball ”, he commented.

“We have played against a great team, one of the best in the league, but we have our chances intact. Tigres played a good game and we did some things well, others not so well. You have to adjust the details. León is a team that has had a great championship, good games this semester and I don’t see why not do it on the return leg”, He sentenced.

The Tigres will visit León this Saturday in the second leg of the Apertura semifinals.
