Argentina.- Arrested nine police officers accused of killing a suspect in Argentina


Nine policemen from the Argentine province of Buenos Aires have been arrested this Saturday in connection with the death of a suspect in police custody last Thursday.

The victim, identified as Alejandro Martínez, was arrested for causing damage to the Gran Hotel Fontainebleau in the city of San Clemente del Tuyú, a popular tourist area.

During the early hours of Thursday, the detainee was allegedly beaten and suffocated to death, as revealed by the autopsy, ordered by the prosecutor of the decentralized Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 11 of La Costa, Pablo Gamaleri.

As the Télam agency advances, citing judicial sources, two or three of the arrested agents will have to respond as the material authors of the death, while the rest will be accused of accessories.
