China adds 23 new cases of covid, 3 of them due to local contagion

Beijing, Nov 20 (EFE) .- The National Health Commission of China announced today the detection of 23 new positives of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus this Friday, 3 of them due to local contagion in Liaoning (northeast, 2) and Jilin ( northeast, 1).
The remaining 20 cases were found among overseas travelers in Shanghai (east, 6), Guangxi (south, 5), Shandong (east, 4), Guangzhou (south, 2), Yunnan (south, 2) and Fujian (east , 1).
The health authorities also reported today the detection of 16 asymptomatic cases, all but one “imported” from abroad, although Beijing does not count them as confirmed cases unless they manifest symptoms.
The total of this type of infections under observation is 487, of which 345 come from other territories.
The National Health Commission also detailed that, until last local midnight (16:00 GMT on Friday), 71 patients were discharged after successfully overcoming the covid.
The total number of active infected in mainland China amounts to 1,158, 12 of which are serious.
According to the accounts of the institution, since the beginning of the pandemic, 98,450 people have been infected in the country, of which 92,656 have managed to heal and 4,636 died.
To date, 1,301,242 close contacts with infected people have been followed up, of which 38,664 are still under observation.
