Rotterdam: injured by warning shots in the corona demo

In the event of violent protests against the Dutch government’s corona measures, the police in Rotterdam fired warning shots. Several people were injured in the process. The Netherlands have been in partial lockdown since last weekend.

Several people were injured by warning shots by the police at a violent corona demonstration in the Netherlands. “In connection with the warning shots” there were injuries, said the police in Rotterdam in the short message service Twitter. Water cannons were also used accordingly.

According to the police, participants in the demonstration against the Corona measures started fires and threw fireworks, there had been riots.

Partial lockdown due to high numbers of infections

In the Netherlands, a partial lockdown has been in effect again since last weekend due to the increasing number of corona infections. According to the current rules, bars, restaurants and shops for daily needs such as supermarkets must close by 8 p.m. at the latest, other shops as early as 6 p.m. Citizens are only allowed to meet a maximum of four other people in their apartments, employees should work from home if possible.

The federal government and the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) have declared the Netherlands to be a high-risk area again. Anyone who enters Germany from a neighboring country on Sunday and is not fully vaccinated or recovered must isolate themselves for ten days. The quarantine can be ended with a negative corona test after five days at the earliest.
