Again the SEP instructed its teachers not to fail students

The authorities of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) spread a circular to the holders of the basic education in the states of the country, in which the instruction of do not fail students so that “the educational transit of grade or level” does not stop.

“The minimum calification that must be registered in the evaluation reports of the students of the primary and secondary educational level that have been evaluated by the teacher may not be less than 6″ Says the circular dated November 10.

The criteria for the conclusion of the 2020-2021 school cycle and for the operation of school control processes and evaluation of the 2021-2022 cycle, released last June and August, respectively, establish that educational and school authorities, parents, guardians and other members of the educational system must take the necessary steps so that students can be assessed and reincorporated to the educational service to avoid dropping out of school.

“The actions carried out in terms of this paragraph must at all times favor the access, permanence, transit, continuity and timely exit of students through the national educational system”

It reiterates that the educational transit of grade or level in basic education of those students who attended the school year 2020-2021 to 2021-2022 cannot be stopped, with the understanding that “they attended” consists of having attended classes in some of the modalities during the COVID-19 contingency.

The student’s performance will be demonstrated in the extraordinary recovery period, which ends on November 30. Works, tasks, activities and other aspects that demonstrate the learning and knowledge acquired, as well as pedagogical guidelines, and the result of their assessment, will have “an overall grade or subject grade” corresponding to the 2020-2021 school year, which will be the same for the first evaluation period of the 2021-2022 cycle.

For students who currently have the legend “insufficient information” or “no information”, the accreditation will be made according to the evaluation made by the teacher; In the event that there are objective conditions to assess their learning in the extraordinary recovery period, three options will be chosen:

– General assessment of knowledge for students from third to sixth grade of primary school and three of secondary school, which considers homework and work, among other items.

– General assessment of knowledge defined by the School Technical Council for students in sixth grade of primary school and all three of secondary school.

– Average the grades obtained by the student in the evaluated periods in the 2020-2021 school year.

In the case of students who have not been evaluated because there are no objective and sufficient elements that allow the teacher to assess the expected knowledge in the study plans and programs, “they will not be accredited until they rejoin the educational service.”

In this situation, students will be considered as “Learners without antecedents”, and it will be until the conclusion of the first evaluation period of the 2021-2022 school year and the extraordinary recovery evaluation period that students who continue with the status of “non-existent communication and have a history of having maintained this way during the 2020 school year- 2021 ″ must be removed from the school control system.
