KIEV, Nov 2 (Reuters) – Ukrainian farmers had sown almost 6.1 million hectares of winter wheat for the 2022 crop as of Nov. 1, equivalent to 91% of the estimated area of ​​6.66 million hectares. hectares, the Ministry of Agriculture said Tuesday.

In October, the ministry had forecast a wheat planting area of ​​6.68 million hectares.

Winter wheat accounts for 95% of Ukraine’s total cereal sowing area.

Farmers planted a total of 6.105 million hectares of winter wheat for the 2021 harvest.

Ukraine, a major producer and exporter of cereals in the world, plans to harvest a record 80.3 million tons of grain in 2021.
