Mainova participates in one of the largest German solar parks

Feldmann: “A real lighthouse project”

“From Frankfurt, Mainova AG is actively promoting the energy transition throughout Germany. The park is expected to generate 180 million kilowatt hours of CO2-free electricity per year – a real lighthouse project, ”said Frankfurt’s mayor and Mainova supervisory board chairman Peter Feldmann.

“Mathematically, around 64,000 households can be supplied with environmentally friendly energy with the energy from the solar park. We are realizing the major project entirely without feed-in tariffs under the Renewable Energy Sources Act, ”added Mainova CEO Constantin H. Alsheimer. In order to be able to meet the growing demand for green electricity, the company intends to use direct supply contracts, so-called power purchase agreements, in the future.

Mainova’s entire renewables portfolio is now spread across 20 locations with 150 MW of installed capacity. The wind and PV parks are located in Hesse, Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein as well as in France. According to Mainova, all systems produced a total of 250 gigawatt hours in 2020 – according to the company, it was the most successful year to date in the field of renewable energies. (hoe)
